Display Hz & Pixel Persistence FAQ
What does 120Hz actually mean for gameplay?
At 120Hz the display draws one full frame every 8.33ms. 120Hz doubles the baseline (8.33ms per frame). The jump from 60 to 120 is the single largest perceived-smoothness gain of any step, and it is the refresh you want for games where motion clarity matters.
Why is my monitor locked at 60Hz instead of 120Hz?
Make sure your display settings in Windows/macOS are explicitly set to 120Hz. Also verify that you are using a high-bandwidth Cable (DisplayPort 1.4+ or HDMI 2.1).
What causes monitor ghosting?
Ghosting occurs when monitor pixels fail to change colors fast enough to keep up with the refresh rate, leaving a visible trail behind moving objects. Adjusting your monitor's Overdrive setting can eliminate this artifact.
